1. 3mm vs 5mm Through-Hole LED Indicators

  • 3mm round LED indicator: compact footprint for high-density panels, instruments and small home appliances; typical viewing angle 30°-60°.
  • 5mm round LED indicator: larger light-emitting area and longer visible distance, ideal for power indicators, charging piles and machinery status lights.
  • Lens options: clear (focused, higher brightness) or diffused/milky (soft, glare-free); colors include red, yellow, blue, green, white, orange plus bi-color and tri-color.

2. Pin Definition: Identifying Anode and Cathode

  • Long lead = anode (A), short lead = cathode (K); the larger internal reflector cup side is the cathode.
  • Bi-color 3-lead parts come in common-cathode (center lead is the shared cathode) and common-anode versions — confirm with your driver circuit before ordering.
  • When forming leads for PCB soldering, keep at least 2mm of stress-relief distance from the epoxy body.

3. Reverse-Polarity Protection and Wide-Voltage Design
